They're so stupid, "towering in their pride of place" (Sorry, Will, I just liked the phrase), they don't realize what will happen when someone else like the UN is in control. Think some "International Oversight Commission" will allow the "Newspaper of Record" to continue as anything much? And, the leftists, especially if Red Guard II is let run loose, will no longer have use for them.
