Light works on deeper structures and not just via the eyes, such as light being shined under the knees to prevent Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). You are correct in asserting that other electromagnetic phenomena also may have effects, especially the Earth's magnetosphere. The Earth has a molten iron-nickel core spinning in the solar wind and creating a magnetic field around the Earth, which catches ionizing radiation emanating from a nearby fusion-powered nuclear explosion- ie, the Sun. This metal core wobbles, and is rapidly losing energy, so that the magnetosphere is quickly lessening, thus blocking less solar radiation, and causing global warming (and more plants growing and releasing CO2). CO2 emissions are a result not a cause.
