I am skeptical that sleep apnea is a major causative factor. The sugar and vegetable oils in our diet are IMHO much more harmful and demonstrably related to stroke and heart attack. I wish you had the time to describe the mechanism that ostensibly causes stroke with sleep apnea patients,because I just don't see it.

There are two types of Sleep Apnea - obstructive apnea which can be alleviated with a CPAP device. Unfortunately central sleep apnea (an apnea is counted when the breathing stops for 10 secconds) is simply that the brain periodically stops sending the signal to take a breath. The number of times per hour denotes the seriousness of the affliction. I tried CPAP & BPAP for a couple of months. Totally worthless for central type apnea and in fact may do more harm than good. Look it up in the New England Journal of Medicine for details. If there is any treatment for central sleep apnea I can't find it. May be caused by CHF.
