So you're saying that the useless- eater elderly aren't all going to be offed and the young useful eaters aren't going to be in some sort of freakazoid kibbutz-type living situation?

Germany, a least in the past, had multi-generational family members living under the same roof. A young couple built a multi-story house. They had children. The children grew up, married, and had children. The once young couple, now Grandparents moved up to the top floor to live while the kids and grandkids lived below. And so it went on for generations. Often times, on the bottom floor, there was space for a business.

I would love to have my family with me, but they are so scattered over the world, if the grid goes down I may never see them again on this earth. I see this coming, however, and I think it may be one of the only good things coming out of this pandemonium.
