BELIEVE IT OR NOT, WHEN MY LATE HUSBAND AND I DECIDED TO STAY IN HAWAII AFTER HOUSE SITTING ON THE BIG ISLAND,IN 1994, WE FOUND OUT THAT THE OUTLYING SUBDIVISIONS DID NOT HAVE PRIVATE PHONE LINES, IT WAS STILL ON THE PARTY LINE SYSTEM. WE DIDN'T GET A PRIVATE PHONE LINE UNTIL 1998.
