When the Lights Go Down In the City

It is time for a two-part history lesson. Some Americans and a few journalists in the Independent Media are awakening to the fact that a grid down, or even a massive EMP scenario is becoming more likely by the day. With all due respect, the accounts I have read are incomplete as to the history, the effects and the specifics tied to such events. This is the first of a two part scenario. The first part of the mini-two-part series will focus on the EMP threat as expressed through the eyes of my former Congressman, Trent Franks. To Franks' credit, he took on the Democratic establishment and tried to expose this threat to the American people. He got absolutely no traction from the mainstream media, only derision, and his pleas for prevention from such a catastrophe fell upon deaf ears despite strong evidence supporting the need to do so.   The danger to the US power grid is finally being reported accurately but not in its totality. There are two basic threats to the power grid:

  1. The first threat consists of a EMP taking down the grid, or some facsimile of this event through a cyber-attack. The Naval War College estimated that within two years of such an event 90% of all Americans would be dead. America would cease to exist as a nation. From what I am reading, this threat is still being understated and the ease of this threat being carried out is being underestimated.
  2. If you think the above threat(s) is grave, the threat to our nuclear power plants is the most severe threat mankind could face except maybe for a direct strike of a mile-wide asteroid off one of our coastlines.

Scenario One-High Altitude Nuclear Blast

Simply put, the first threat consists of the traditional high altitude nuclear blast over mid-continental United States resulting in a grid down scenario as exemplified by the scenario portrayed from this graphic with the EMP effects correlated to the altitude of the nuclear burst.

As one can see from the graphic, this information was presented to Congress over 21 years ago and NOTHING was ever done to harden the grid. How will people die?

Former Congressman Trent Franks

On November 6, 2013, Congressman Franks wrote a very pointed and blunt letter to Frederick Gorbet, the chairman of the Board of Trustees for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC). Franks jointly addressed his letter to Gary Cauley, the President and CEO of the same organization. In the letter, Congressman Franks sounds like a man who has had enough, is as mad as hell and is not going to take it anymore. Franks obviously sees the dire threat posed by an EMP grid take down and is increasingly frustrated with the “Pollyanna’s” who are acting irresponsibly in the face of the threat, especially when some of these people are in positions of responsibility when it comes to protecting the public from a prolonged and catastrophic blackout. In the letter, Franks points out that on “October 27, 2013, National Geographic aired a docudrama entitled American Blackout. The film showed what our countrymen and nation would experience in the event of a cyber attack on the US bulk power distribution system and a resulting shut down of the grid for 10 days. If anything, the serious hardships, dislocation, physical destruction, deaths and societal breakdown portrayed in this docudrama are likely understated“. In my last article, a Franks’ video was played in which he said an EMP take down of the grid would result in 60% of Americans dying as a result of the event. The Naval War College puts the death rate at 90%. Franks goes on to chastise NERC for the statements of one of its member electric utilities, the Kissimmee Utility Authority which issued a statement, in response to the film, which clearly chastised the National Geographic docudrama by stating that the threats were overblown. Franks made it clear in his letter, that if anything, the threats of the docudrama were grossly understated! Further, Franks went on to say that the time frame which encompassed the blackout, two weeks, was an additional understatement and “that a sustained blackout would be catastrophic”.  Franks also accuses NERC and its member utilities of historically under-representing the seriousness of the threat of an EMP attack and a subsequent power grid take down.

The main thrust of the Franks’ letter focuses on his lack of trust and sincerity that NERC brought to the table in testing the nations power grid vulnerabilities in the November 13-14, 2013, Grid EX II drill. The Franks’ letter to NERC turns into an outright condemnation in which he accuses the main sponsor of the Grid EX II. NERC, as being ” dismissive”  and that “the blackout possibilities represents a catastrophic threat to the United States of widespread power loss for potentially months or years that could result in American society tearing itself apart and a horrific loss of human life.

Franks goes on to challenge NERC to disavow the dismissive comments regarding the blackout threat addressed by the Kissimmee Utility Authority. Franks further challenges NERC when he says that “If, however, NERC and others involved in planning and executing Grid EX II are dismissive of those who believe such vulnerabilities exist-and if the planners are intent on using the exercise to hide, rather than expose, the shortcomings-Grid EX may actually be a grave disservice to the consumer, to the public more generally and perhaps to America’s vital national security”. We actually witnessed a Congressman who is exhibiting a high degree of integrity and courage in taking on this issue on behalf of the American people. Congressman Trent Franks is actually saying that NERC is not to be trusted in their past statements and their actions exhibit the reasons behind the mistrust. In short, NERC is an agent of the Deep State and the Globalists who will one day use a grid down scenario to take down America. The entire Franks’ letter can be accessed at this link. As a footnote to this situation, Trent Franks was forced from office. Here is an excerpt from the LA Times:

A day after Republican Rep. Trent Franks announced he would resign early next year, he abruptly stepped down Friday after a former aide told the Associated Press that he had offered her $5 million to act as a surrogate mother.

In making his departure effective immediately, the eight-term Arizona lawmaker bowed to an ultimatum from House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.). Ryan told Franks that he would refer allegations against him to the Ethics Committee and urged him to step aside.

But here's the catch, the aide stated that Franks never attempted sexual contact and that he asked her to consider the offer, which is perfectly legal. The aid later said her "meaningful assignments" were reduced. The allegation was never quantified or exemplified. And here is the most stunning part of this mystery, we don't know the aides name. She never filed a formal complaint and attached her name to the complaint. Here is what I have learned. McCain had his hand in this case and long viewed Franks as a threat to his policies. Franks was the heir apparent to McCain's Senate seat, which McCain did not want. Both McCain and Ryan are avowed globalists and the fact that Ryan, without so much as a formal signed allegation exposed the take-down of Franks as a plot against him ever becoming a Senator. Franks was a rising star until he opposed NERC. In another letter Franks wrote, he told Obama that for the cost of one B1 Bomber, approximately $2 billion, the entire grid could be hardened against an EMP attack. Franks was relentless in his pursuit of protecting the grid. As early as 2008, I attended a community of my personal place of worship at that time, Community Church of Joy, and to a packed building Franks played a 20 minute documentary from the DOD which detailed what a high altitude burst would do the grid. This was the first time I ever heard the casualty figures. Within two years, 90% of all Americans would be dead. It is my belief, that both McCain and Ryan knew what was potentially coming and Franks had to be silenced.

How Will People Die?

One Second After author William Forstchen write perhaps the most salient account in an event that would bring down the grid. Forstchen cites a 2004 study on the impact of such an assault on America in which is estimated that testimony in that study said 90% of all Americans would die within 12-18 months of an EMP attack. As many as 500,000 deaths will occur immediately following a large-scale EMP event as commercial airliners lose power and drop from the sky. The major cause of death would be lack of access to drinkable water. Before electricity people either had wells or lived near a water source. Today, in a  grid down scenario, so does the water. The only exception to this would be those places where water was delivered by gravity. Millions of people will die from lack of water and from water borne illness brought on by drinking contaminated water. Even though many residents of rural areas still rely on wells, most use electricity. Ten million people would soon without water in LA because the majority of water is electronically pumped over a mountain range. People who rely on medical technology would soon perish. Pacemakers give out. Dialysis machines stop working. I want to be clear, everyone on hospital life support systems will die. Extreme heat and cold will become life-threatening. Carbon monoxide poisonings will increase exponentially. Starvation is a real threat since the just-in-time-delivery would cease and the stores would be empty within a day. Local warfare and widespread violence would break out in attempt to secure needed resources. This is just the short list. Part two will describe the major threat coming from this kind of a scenario and this is the greatest threat of them all.

How Far Away Is the Threat?

The Century Link event, which is growing more bizarre by the moment, could very well be a Beta-test. Additionally, FEMA has warned America to be prepared to be without power for 6 months or longer. They have produced pamphlets which detail the danger areas. Yet, we are still doing nothing to protect against the consequences of such an event.
