I think the social credit system is already here, to a large degree. It isn't legally crafted into our judicial system, however it is sewn into our societal system. God have mercy upon the poor cretin who falls into disfavor with the social media mob. It doesn't matter if this person is guilty or not, it is the perception of the unruly social media minions to scream for their carcass (and everything else). There is an army of administrators lurking behind every comment, post, blog and article salivating to spin, chew, roast and eject the offensive perpetrator (perception matters, not truth, facts or evidence). Yes, we will the same system soon. But citizens won't care, they have already been groomed thru current platforms.

This is already operating in England and Wales; a guidance video from 3 years ago was put on-line via YouTube, describing how to boost your Social Credit scores, and how to delete those who might be dragging your score down! Get your children OFF OF SOCIAL MEDIA ENTIRELY! What is also interesting is the 13th Dr. Who (second season) where giving up privacy for trendy profiling comes back to absorb the participants into a gateway hell! In the first season, there was a take on an Amazon-like company... While Dr Who #13 exposes these socio-political trends, it can be and often is painfully politically correct, which is disgusting to a point that is ruins the script lines!
