I could be wrong but bitcoin looks like the ultimate fiat currency. It's backed by nothing and is only 1's and 0's in a computer. At least with FRN's you can hold a piece of pretty printed paper in your hand that can double as toilet paper.
Not only that, but it looks like bitcoin was blown up into a bubble years ago. I'm guessing it's a ruse to suck in money from ordinary people. Sound familiar?
If bitcoin were instantly convertible into gold, silver or other commodity, it *might* have value. Unfortunately, Wall Street and the central bankers will co-opt and corrupt any thing that competes with them.
How does one use it or any algorithm based currency when the power is out, or communication - as in Internet or equivalent - not operating? Here in Florida, we have hurricanes, and can be without electricity for a week; other areas of the country have tornadoes or earthquakes, which disrupt power; someone with a backhoe, too lazy to make a phone call, can disrupt communication over a wide area. Then how do the required calculations take place? Last long term outrace, supermarket clerks were adding up orders on the backs of paper bags, as in years ago. But, that's still using dollars and cents. My guess is the developers of electronic currency haven't thought it through or don't care.
Hi Dave, what do you think about the ZeroHedge article regarding 83 tons of fake gold found... If one can find gold, how does one trust it's real gold?
You'll have to forgive me here, but if that waste of skin Mark Cuban (i.e. The Dot Communist) is schlepping for something, don't think I'd be signing up for it.
