Only God knows, at this point. Sometimes, when people are on their deathbed, strange things happen. A person literally may see the light! They repent. They believe. They wish to change course and seek Gods Kingdom right then. Of course, God knows what is truly in their heart. Can't fool Him.

Dave, perhaps it was a "slip of the tongue." but Christians do not "hope" they are going to heaven. That is verbiage for those who are depending on being justified by their "works." Christians do not "hope" they are going to heaven, because they realize the perfect works of their Savior are acceptable for their vicarious justification and entry into heaven. "Hope" supposes an element of doubt. True faith eliminates any doubt.
