It is not only the homeowner's insurance going up, but also auto. My homeowner's insurance was $20.00 more than my automobile. How can that be? I live in Central Florida, no tickets or accidents, so I went to my agent, and he got me the same coverage with another company for $700.00 less! It is all insane and why should we have to be paying and paying for others???
Beyond insurance cancellations, there is affordability. People with mortgages have to have mortgage insurance. Those with automobiles know that having insurance is mandated by law. What happens when insurance proves to be too expensive, therefore unaffordable? Rents increase, medications increase, food prices increase, etc. We will have to pick and choose what has priorities. Our limited Dollars will only go so far. If we opt out of auto insurance, we become criminals. If we opt out of homeowner's insurance when our house is paid off, we risk ruin in a disaster. Post WWII, Dad was the sole breadwinner, Mom was the homemaker, and they had a family car. Things were affordable. Evil and greed crept in amongst us like a thief in the night.
