Dave no matter what we try to do to save a few bucks these days the insurance companies seem to take it from us. Because of some heart issues I went through a battery of test and was given a payment plan for the large balance after the office asked the insurance company what my portion due would be. I made the payments every month and after about 6 months I received a new bill from the doctors office saying the additional $600 was what the insurance company would not pay. After repeated calls to the doctors office and the insurance company I was told it was co-insurance. No one could explain why the amount wasn't included in the original patient portion at the very beginning. This has happened to me now 3 times. Something needs to be done.
