The battle is between the "seed" of the Serpent and the "Seed" of the woman.  Humans are pawns in the game.  Control of the world is the prize.

Jesus Christ has already defeated His foe.  "All power is given unto me both in heaven and earth."

But the battle is still playing out, much like a football game.  There is still time on the clock but the outcome has already been decided. Our job is to "Occupy till He comes."  We are approaching clean up time in this great cosmic battle.

At the same time, we really do not understand our enemy.  The Bible warns us that "my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." What you don't know can kill you.  So here is a little background on the enemy of Christ.

"Satan" is a transliteration of a Hebrew word, which means "adversary," or "opponent." The word satan is used multiple times in the Old Testament, often referring to anyone who is blocking or challenging someone else.

Satan is not in hell…yet.  That is where he will end up.  Until then, his domain is the earth and Sheol which is the underworld.  Satan originally walked upright.  The judgement of God caused him to "crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life."
