I don’t know that I agree with you on your call to shut down transportation due to the pandemic. We agree that shutting down travel will have a negative impact on the economy, but I am not sure anyone could even ball park it’s total impact.
That being said, if we look at auto related deaths each year, which hover around 35k, we would either need to anticipate significantly higher deaths from this pandemic or we are confronted with the reality that perhaps we should shut down vehicle transportation too.
My point is, we recognize that our economy is not with out risks to life, and we do accept these risks. We need to acknowledge this and handle the weight of risk to life vs risk to the economy.
Martial law: In other words is tyranny. It is nowhere even alluded to in the US Constitution and even if it did IMHO it would be illegitimate. Stewart Rhodes "Oath Keepers" agrees with me an instructs it's members NOT to enforce martial law.
You have an absolute right to isolate yourself and your family BUT you have no right to restrict the rights of others even when you think that it may be harmful to them.
Rights do not change PERIOD. It is especially important not to trample rights when there is an emergency or it will become a slippery slope of destroying all of your rights.
Keep telling the truth, it will reach the ears that need to hear so they can prepare accordingly. Everyone else, well, they can take their chances with the newest virus du jour unleashed upon the Earth. Flights (and all indirect circuitous routes) should have been shut down to the USA days ago. Our borders (north and south) should also be closed until this epidemic is contained, period. I support Trump, but I am extremely disappointed that he has not been more pro-active in taking steps to ensure (as much as possible) our nation's safety and well-being. China is a mess, they are NOT telling the truth with their "official" statistics. Perilous times, indeed...
