Since January of 2007, the drug war has claimed the lives of approximately 7,500 people which is nearly double the number of United States troops killed in Iraq since 2003. More than 200 American citizens have died in the carnage and not all of them were involved in the drug business as many of the dead were innocent bystanders caught in the cross-fire of drug traffickers.
The Obama administration is in the process of sending reinforcements to the Southwest border in order to contain the unrestrained violence resulting from the Mexican drug cartel wars.
